Shipping Update: U.S. Playmats and Double Ace Boxes
over 2 years ago – Wed, Sep 29, 2021 at 09:10:44 PM

Two bits of news:

Playmats

Today, the first playmat shipments are leaving Austin and heading into the wild. If you're a U.S. backer who is receiving all three playmats, then your playmat rewards are in the queue and will be shipped as fast as we can manage. These white carton boxes include playmats one and three, and our warehouse team has inserted playmat two, and next they apply labels and start mailing your playmats. As with most of the packaging created for the game, these boxes are not storage boxes or intended to be used outside of protecting the contents between our warehouse and the final destination. Labels are applied directly to the boxes; we suggest tearing the boxes to bits when they arrive so you can get to the good stuff inside.

Our warehouse team popped these open, added playmat two, and retaped the boxes. If you are in the U.S. and receiving all three playmats, we can report that the playmats are now starting to ship.

 Double Ace Boxes

In other news, the first two test boxes have reached their targets . . . one of which happened to be my house. I popped the carton, removed the outer wrap, and investigated the contents. The carton and wrap took damage as expected (see pics, below), which was exactly what they were designed to do. The game components inside are in good shape . . . which means that U.S. shipping of Double Ace boxes will start soon.

NOTE: This will not be a fast process. The Double Ace boxes will ship from our primary warehouse in Georgia and we will post an update when the last box has been dropped into the shipping channel.

As we have mentioned, this is only the beginning. Please hold all "I didn't get mine!" messages and posts until we announce that fulfillment is complete. The team is working as fast as possible in today's world, and we will continue to prioritize their health and safety above all else.

The outer carton. This will take damage. That is what it was designed to do.
Opening the carton, we find the Double Ace wrap. And a protective piece of cardboard.
Signs of damage on the wrap. As the heavy contents shift, they bang into things. This wrap was added to absorb the blow. Yours will very likely arrive damaged. That's okay, because it did the job and protected the game.
More scuffs and dings to the outer wrap. As expected. Recycle this outer box, please, and enjoy the game inside.
Corners hate shipping! Again, you can expect to see this level of damage to the outer wrap. You don't take a trip around the world without suffering some cosmetic damage, so we added this protective layer to keep your game safe.
Opening the outer wrap, we start to get to the goodies inside.
Another piece of packing material. Recycle this, please, so you can get to the good stuff: The game!
Open these later, after you play the core game. Trying to use everything at once is madness!!!
Here we see the way that the protective cardboard saved the road tiles from taking damage. The cardboard wrap around the road tiles will suffer damage. Recycle that wrap and enjoy the game components!
The reverse side of the road tiles pack. Or, as we like to call it, the fun side!
The four-player core game. Open this first, please, and play several games using the components inside.

U.S. Fulfillment Update and Hunter Paints a Car
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 24, 2021 at 10:07:48 PM

As mentioned in our September 15 update, all containers are at our primary warehouse. Please see that update for a broad overview of the fulfillment schedule, and please keep this in mind:

"Those of you who selected add-ons will need to be exceptionally patient, and the add-on process means that most of your rewards are unique combinations of items. This takes time to process and ship, and this stage is likely to require months to complete."

We cannot stress enough that this will not be a fast process. There are many unique combinations to pack and ship, and our warehouse is small and staff limited. We will ship as quickly as possible, but only in such a way that we do not risk the health of our crew and we do not rush the process to the point of generating excessive errors. This will not be a fast process.

That said, a handful of you have received shipping notifications for your Double Ace box. This is a very, very small number of those at the highest reward levels. This is a test. Before we slap labels on thousands of Double Ace boxes and drop them into the shipping stream, we are going to put a handful of copies into a small number of hands and check the contents. All should ship without difficulty, but we want to run tests so we are certain.

We do not yet have an exact date when rewards will start shipping. The Warehouse 23 team is still making plans to start shipping playmats and add-ons in October, but once they start, this will not be a fast process. We are asking for your patience; please see this update for an overview of the fulfillment schedule.

Hunter Paints a Car

In other news, Hunter painted a car. (Which is something I know many of you are planning to also do just as soon as your games arrive.) Jump on in to get an idea of what your car might look like once you attack the plastic with a brush and paint.

Car Wars at Gen Con and a New Video
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 17, 2021 at 01:51:06 AM

If you're at Gen Con, please swing by booth #1201 and you can play in the Car Wars Sixth Edition demos! We are not selling the game at the show, but we're running demo events and giving attendees a chance to play using the 100% completed game.

For those of you who are not at Gen Con, Hunter and Philip just completed a two-player event on video and we've got the action right here! And, of course, there are more videos to come over the coming weeks and months as we keep Car Wars Sixth Edition moving forward to its official release.

All Containers Have Landed. What's Next?
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 16, 2021 at 02:32:05 AM

Earlier this week, the last of the five Car Wars containers landed at our primary warehouse in Georgia. As of this writing, the items are not yet officially received into inventory, but that hasn't stopped us from planning our next steps.

First, we need everyone to understand that this will not be a fast fulfillment. Between the size and complexity of the project and the precautions to protect our team during a global pandemic, this will take months to complete. We will ship all rewards as quickly as we can manage, but we will need your continued patience. We will post an update once all rewards have shipped; until that update, we ask that you not contact us with "has mine shipped yet?" questions. Those types of questions will only delay everything.

So, how are we going to handle this? We will tap two warehouses: Warehouse 23 in Austin and our primary fulfillment and sales partner in Georgia. The Georgia warehouse's first task (after officially receiving the inventory into their system) will be shipping the Deluxe Ace boxes. (If your reward included the Double Ace stretch goals, you will receive this box. Please see this page at Warehouse 23 for a contents list.) These boxes do not include playmats. Playmats, because of their size and because we ship them rolled, will be a separate shipment. We do not yet have a date for shipping the Double Ace boxes.

Since we prepared a Double Ace box at the factory, many of you will receive most of your rewards in that one box. Please note that the cardboard carton and the outer wrap were designed to protect the contents. These are not storage cases; we expect these pieces may suffer some damage in the shipping process, but we would rather the outside container suffer the blows than the gameplay components inside take damage in shipping.

Warehouse 23, starting in October, will handle the shipping of many playmats as well as all add-on items. Those of you who selected add-ons will need to be exceptionally patient, and the add-on process means that most of your rewards are unique combinations of items. This takes time to process and ship, and this stage is likely to require months to complete.

International rewards will be processed and shipped later once we have completed the U.S. fulfillment. We have to divide the international rewards into regions, pack everything, and then (in many instances) forward these packages to fulfillment partners in other nations. Shipping global rewards is going to take a lot of time. How much time? We do not know. A lot of time.

Thank you, everyone, for your patience as our team works through this monumental task. We know that all of you are anxious to get your games and start playing, but we need to do this right and protect our team during the pandemic. We're not going to cut corners on the final lap.

Random Fun Generator 2

In other news, our new book of dice games is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter next week. Random Fun Generator 2 includes over 20 different games and is a stand-alone sequel to last year's Random Fun Generator book. Don't miss this one, gang! Click the "notify me" button on this page to receive email notification when the project launches.

BackerKit Address Lock and Warehouse 23 Pre-Orders Now Open
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 07, 2021 at 11:06:25 PM

Two bits of news:

  • BackerKit addresses are locking. You have until early Wednesday morning (Austin time) to edit your address. If you need assistance, please see this BackerKit page for instructions. We are locking addresses as part of preparing for fulfillment. This does not mean we are shipping rewards. The last containers have still not arrived. We are simply moving to the next stage of a long and complicated process. We will post an update when there is more news regarding project fulfillment.
  •  Warehouse 23 pre-orders are now open for the Car Wars Sixth Edition games, accessories, and expansions. Please note that Kickstarter rewards and Warehouse 23 pre-orders will not ship together. These are scheduled to ship in early 2022 and the pre-orders are at a discount over the final MSRP. There is one new item listed for pre-order that was not a part of the Kickstarter campaign: Uncle Al's Arena Supplies #1 is a 3D printed set that includes one Jersey Barrier, two barrels, two drums, and three cones. When do pre-orders close? We do not yet have a date. News to come.

Any questions? Please email [email protected] for support.
