Playmat Update: How Do They Fit Together?
over 4 years ago – Fri, Dec 13, 2019 at 09:51:27 PM

Steve and Ben spent quite a bit of time this week making edits to Playmat #1, Playmat #2, and (the not yet unlocked) Playmat #3. Their tweaks to the designs were with a single goal: Increase the number of ways in which the playmats may combine to create larger playscapes.

To help illustrate the different ways in which the three playmats (NOTE: #3 has not yet been unlocked) can connect, Ben assembled the below graphic.

We also reviewed several other parts of the project yesterday; news to come.

NOTE: As of this moment, Playmat #3 is still locked and is not yet available.

Hunter and Jimmie Build Cars, Sam Talks Linked Weapons

Two bits of entertainment today, both of which don't need a lot of words from me. Let's jump in, gang, and enjoy the fun! -PR

NOTE: Video embeds on Kickstarter continue to be buggy and broken. Sorry, but the best we can do is a link:

Options, Options, Options!

Let's say you have 4 build points (BP) to play with and you want to put a machine gun on your car. Your setup can vary based on your preferences, your play style, and the other equipment you have equipped on your car. Here are some of the available options...

You can purchase two separate Standard Machine Gun cards for 2 BP each. These can each deal as many as 5 damage per attack, and they have a slight-to-moderate chance of some of that damage going to your opponent's tires (as many as 2 per attack). Each uses a separate attack action to fire. You can equip them, together or separately, to any firing arc. Each has a durability of 2, which means your opponent may have to deal up to 4 more points of damage before reaching the gooey center of your car.

You can purchase one Vulcan card for 4 BP. This is a bigger gun that can deal as many as 7 damage per attack, and has a moderate chance of some of the damage going to your opponent's tires (as many as 3 per attack). It only uses one attack action to fire, so you may be able to fire another weapon on the same turn. It has a durability of 2, however, so it's just as easy to destroy as a single Standard Machine Gun.

You can purchase one Linked Standard Machine Guns card for 4 BP. This can also deal as many as 5 damage per attack, and has a strong chance of some of the damage going to your opponent's tires (as many as 3 per attack). Additionally, linked weapons allow you to re-roll up to 2 of your attack dice (including the same die twice), so your odds of an effective attack increase dramatically. It only uses one attack action to fire, so you may be able to fire another weapon on the same turn. It has a durability of 2, however, so it's just as easy to destroy as a single Standard Machine Gun or Vulcan.

Ultimately, the decision boils down to your preferences and your particular play style. Drive offensively and have fun!

Sizes of Things
over 4 years ago – Wed, Dec 11, 2019 at 12:17:20 AM

In response to questions, here is a photo showing a ruler over a road tile. This will give you the shoulder, lane, and overall road widths.

Also for your viewing pleasure - the green base. As you see, the rectangle that represents a car is 3 1/8 inches long, not counting the curves at front and back, which are used when pushing things around in collisions. (Why not 3" even? This is a nod to those who want to try Hot Wheels cars. The average HW car is 3" long - this gives 2mm of extra space to protect those precious paint jobs..)

In other news, Sam reports that he received a PERFECT base sample from the factory. We knew they could do it. We didn't know it would take so many tweaks. But, success!

As Requested: Car Wars Polo Shirt Add-On
over 4 years ago – Mon, Dec 09, 2019 at 11:48:41 PM

When we opened the t-shirt add-ons last week, some of you asked: "Polo shirts?"

Darryll and Ben put in a little time over the weekend and we can now say: "Polo shirts!"

To add an AADA polo shirt to your rewards, please increase your pledge amount by $35. In BackerKit, after the campaign has closed, you will make your exact add-on choices and tell us which items to pack into your reward levels.

The AADA polo is not included in any reward level. This is an add-on item only.

And don't forget, gang, that we have two different Car Wars t-shirts available as project add-ons. Below are the two designs that are currently being offered as a part of this campaign.
